Prescription Drugs
One of the many
label opportunities within the Healthcare segment is prescription
drugs. The volume of prescriptions written each year continues
to experience double-digit growth with nearly 4 billion written last
year alone. The aging population and recent phenomena of
advertising drugs direct to consumers (DTC) are key drivers in the
growth of the number of prescriptions written each year. Over
30% of elderly Americans take 8 or more medications. The
introduction of Medicare Part D is yet another growth driver in this
segment. These trends are likely to continue for the
foreseeable future, thus making prescription drugs an excellent
growth area for labeling opportunities.
